The table shows today’s gold price per gram in the UAE in AED for 24, 22, 21 and 18 karat, plus the price per ounce and per tola. They are indicative, spot-derived prices, not jewellery shop prices: they do not include making charges or taxes.

Indicative prices calculated from the live spot gold price (XAU/USD) and the exchange rate, refreshed every few seconds (if the spot feed is unavailable, COMEX gold futures are used, delayed by about 10 minutes). These are not shop buy or sell prices: jewellery prices add making charges, the dealer’s margin and taxes where they apply. For information only, not investment advice.
Frequently asked questions
What does karat mean?
Karat shows how much of an item is pure gold, out of 24 parts. 24K is almost pure gold (99.9%), 22K is 91.67% gold, 21K is 87.5% and 18K is 75%. The rest is other metals, such as copper or silver, that make the piece harder.
How is the gold price per gram in AED calculated?
We divide the US dollar price of one troy ounce by 31.1035 (grams per ounce) and multiply by the USD/AED exchange rate. That gives the 24K price per gram. For the other karats we multiply by their purity: 22K × 0.9167, 21K × 0.875, 18K × 0.75 (divided by 0.999, the purity used for 24K).
What is a tola?
The tola is a traditional unit of weight still used in gold markets in the UAE and the Gulf. One tola is 11.6638 grams, so the tola price is the gram price × 11.6638.
Why is this different from the price in gold shops?
This is the value of the gold metal only. Shops add making charges and their margin, taxes apply where relevant, and the price a shop pays you when you sell is lower than its selling price. Use these numbers as a reference for what the gold itself is worth.
Which exchange rate do you use?
The UAE dirham is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed 3.6725 AED per dollar, set by the Central Bank of the UAE, so we use that rate.
How often are the prices updated?
The page refreshes the prices automatically every few seconds while it is open, and shows the time of the latest gold quote and the exchange-rate source under the table. The gold quote is live spot and does not move at weekends when markets are closed.
Tips when buying gold in the Gulf
Compare the per-gram price a shop quotes with the metal value for the same karat on this page; the difference is the making charge, the dealer’s margin and tax. Ask for an invoice that lists the karat, the weight, the gram price and the making charge separately.
Bars and coins in 24K usually carry lower making charges than jewellery, while 21K and 22K jewellery is the most common in Gulf markets.
