About SMH

SMH (VanEck Semiconductor ETF) is a semiconductor ETF from VanEck. It is not leveraged: it aims to follow its benchmark one-for-one. Its expense ratio is 0.35% a year, according to both the issuer and Yahoo Finance's fund profile.

What it tracks

The MVIS US Listed Semiconductor 25 Index holds 25 of the largest semiconductor companies listed in the US, which can include non-US chipmakers traded through US listings.

What to keep in mind

With 25 holdings in a cyclical industry, SMH is concentrated; chip stocks can rise and fall quickly with demand, inventories and technology cycles.

What a sector ETF does

A sector ETF holds companies from a single part of the economy. That makes it a way to follow one industry, such as technology, energy or banks, but it also means less diversification than a broad index fund: when the sector's own drivers turn, such as oil prices, interest rates, regulation or demand cycles, the whole fund feels it. A few very large companies can carry a big share of a sector index.

Why is it moving?

An editor writes these notes and they are published with the site. They do not update on their own.

The report relies on people who are not named. It is not a company or government statement.

The story does not state a resulting share-price move, so this page does not add one.

This page is VanEck Semiconductor ETF. The story is about a report that H200 chips are waiting on import approval.

H200 chips are reported waiting in Hong Kong

Source: Reuters via Devdiscourse · Published 6 November 2026, 11:01 IST · Updated 6 November 2026, 11:01 IST

Devdiscourse carried a Reuters report it stamps as created and updated on 6 November 2026 at 11:01 IST, and it says its staff did not edit the syndicated feed. Two people familiar with the matter told Reuters that about 600,000 Nvidia H200 chips are stored in Hong Kong waiting to ship to mainland China, while Beijing has not approved large-volume imports. The same story says some chips have been allowed in: one person said several large internet firms each obtained about 10,000 H200 chips in recent months, and three people said small amounts moved through intermediaries. That is not a description of a total ban. Nvidia and the named Chinese firms and agencies did not answer, the story says. It states no share-price move, so this note does not add one. No official import text was obtained.
