MT5 trade history and reports: view, filter and export your results

MT5 keeps a full record of your account: every order you sent, every deal that was filled and every closed position, plus deposits and withdrawals. The History tab lists them; the Reports page turns them into statistics. Reading both regularly is the simplest way to review a trading plan.

Find your closed trades

  1. Open the History tab. Open the Toolbox (Ctrl+T) and click History. Each row shows the time, symbol, type, volume, prices, commission, swap and profit.
  2. Choose the view. Right-click the list and pick Positions (one row per closed position), Orders (every order you sent) or Deals (every fill, including deposits and withdrawals).
  3. Choose the period. Right-click and select the period you want to see. The total line at the bottom shows profit, deposits, withdrawals and the balance for that period.
  4. Filter by symbol. Use the symbol filter in the same menu to see one instrument, for example only XAUUSD.
  5. See trades on the chart. Turn on the option to show trades on charts to see where each position was opened and closed.

Read the Reports page

  1. Open it. Use View → Reports, or right-click the History tab → Report. The first time it can take a while to build.
  2. Summary and Profit/Loss. Summary gives an overview over time: profit and loss, deposits and withdrawals, balance and growth. Profit/Loss splits winning and losing trades into manual, algorithmic and copy trading, by month and year.
  3. Long/Short and Symbols. See whether buys or sells, and which instruments, made or lost money.
  4. Risks. Shows drawdowns and the deposit load (margin as a share of equity), which reveals whether you used too much leverage.
  5. Save it. Save the report as HTML or PDF to keep a copy or share it with a mentor.

Common problems

History is empty
The selected period is too short or the symbol filter is on. Choose a longer period and remove the filter.
The times look wrong
History uses the broker's server time. Compare with the server time shown in Market Watch.
A trade from last month is missing
Positions are listed by the period in which they were opened or closed. Widen the period to include both dates.
